Document redaction software
Redact PDFs permanently — with a record that holds up
RedactBot finds the sensitive content in a document, lets you approve every mark, then burns it out of the file for good and produces the privilege log and certificate that account for it.
Verified burn-in · Hash-chained audit trail · Privilege log & certificate · No credit card for Free
How it works
-
Upload
Add a PDF. Pages are rasterized for on-screen marking, and pages with no text layer are OCR’d automatically.
-
Detect
Built-in pattern templates and GLiNER entity detection find identifiers. On Pro and Premier, AI detection catches what patterns miss.
-
Review
Accept or reject every detection yourself, page by page. Nothing is redacted without your decision.
-
Burn in & download
Marks are burned out of the file, a verification pass confirms the content is gone, and you download the redacted PDF with its certificate.
Built to be defensible
Permanent, verified removal
Burn-in replaces page content rather than layering over it, and a verification pass re-checks each page so nothing sensitive survives into the released document.
Tamper-evident audit trail
Every action is recorded in a hash-chained audit trail, so the record of what happened — and when, and by whom — stands up to outside scrutiny.
Privilege log & certificate built in
The privilege log (CSV) and the redaction certificate are generated from the marks you actually applied. They are first-class outputs, not exports bolted on afterwards.
Scanned documents (OCR)
Pages with no text layer are OCR’d automatically, so detection and review work the same on scans as on born-digital PDFs. Uncertain words can be corrected before you rely on them.
Templates + GLiNER entity detection
Built-in pattern templates cover the common identifiers, and GLiNER entity detection finds names, organizations, and places that no pattern can describe. Paid plans add your own templates.
Your documents stay yours
Documents live in your account and nowhere else, with per-plan retention and auto-delete windows, and are never used to train models. Read about security.

Is the redaction really permanent?
Yes. Burn-in removes the underlying content — text and pixels — rather than drawing a box over it, and a verification pass then re-checks every page to confirm the removed content is gone from the released file.
Does it work on scanned documents?
Yes. Pages that carry no text layer are OCR’d automatically, so detection and review work the same on scans as on born-digital PDFs. You can review and correct uncertain OCR words before relying on them.
What is a privilege log?
A privilege log is the record of what was withheld from a production and why — typically required in litigation. RedactBot produces it as a CSV alongside a redaction certificate, generated from the marks you actually reviewed and applied.
Does my document text go to an AI?
AI detection on Pro and Premier runs through one managed AI gateway operated for RedactBot; your document text is sent only to return detections and is never used to train models.
What counts as a document?
Each file counts once, when it is first processed. Re-scanning or reprocessing the same document never counts again; pages are unlimited on paid plans.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes 50 pages a month with the built-in pattern templates and GLiNER entity detection, no credit card required. See pricing for what each plan includes.
